Delayed but still on track.
We've had a few setbacks with the exhibition in that we're still waiting for some approval for funding for the show, so, unfortunately the show will be postponed. THERE'S STILL HOPE, HOWEVER... We're going to put some effort in fundraising and getting some great things together!!!! Stay tuned.....

Off the radar and back in the radar.
Going back in time a little bit, Futuramanila was an exhibition that ran in Hong Kong in the Osage Gallery during the fall of 2008.
Untitled/Again (Marienbad/Hong Kong)
September 27, Saturday, 4 - 6pm
Osage Gallery, Kwun Tong
FUTURAMANILA exhibition runs until October 6, 2008
Untitled/Again (Marienbad/Hong Kong) is a performance installation inspired by Luis Bunuel's film Exterminating Angel and Alain Resnais' Last Year at Marienbad. Both seminal pieces of modern cinema are legendary for their self-contained yet ambiguous structure in which memory and mores are subject to doubt, and events, locations and personas remain repetitive yet also mutable and oblique. In his durational performance, Yason Banal explores portraiture, memory and seriality by transporting Marienbad to contemporary Hong Kong, inhabited by figurines in sculptural garments and gallery artifacts. Putting a surreal twist on modern patrician codes such as art house cinema, realist portraiture, exotic cuisine and classical music, the well-composed tableaux vivant begin to show cracks in the surface as the figurines drink liquor while performing tasks - durational and repetitive acts of remembrance and representation begin to implode against/into spectral documents and suppressed associations.
The performance at Osage will be the first of a series of installments happening in Manila, Berlin, Stuttgart, Jakarta, San Francisco and London. The work-in-progress will result in boxed edition sets of garments, text, still and moving images.
